Wire recorder
I've got this and I would like to know more about it..
Can anyone help? I've drawn out the circuit as best I can - I know it was at RAF Carlisle (14 MU) because that is what the cardboard label says. Ging |

Re: Wire recorder
This is a UK designed and built 'Wirek' airborne recorder for the RAF of circa 1950+ made by Boosey & Hawkes (of brass instrument fame/music) who produced American wire recorders in the later war years for the British armed forces and BBC.
This machine was either portable or fixed to the airframe (yours) to record voice or instruments, usually in test flying. It was originally developed for Hawkers. The full story is told in my 'Guide to British tape recorders'. Barry |

Re: Wire recorder
Thanks for the very prompt reply - I'm thinking of selling it to make a bit of space in my overcrowded workshop.
