Yaesu FT-200 No Transmit Problem.
I'm attempting to restore an FT-200 that has been idle for over a decade.
The receive works well, but I'm unable to make the unit transmit. Is there a resource that someone can point me to that may help me diagnose the issue? I think I've exhausted my web search for appropriate materials. I've found a few manuals and articles, but nothing that has helped me diagnose the issue. Alternatively, (and even better) has anyone had a similar issue with Yaesu equipment from that era. Thanks in advance. Joe VE3UKY |

Relays are a problem. You have to know how to clean them properly, look for FT901 repair video's. It should help

Thanks for the response. I cleaned one of them, suspecting that to be the problem. That didn't solve the issue. I'll clean the second relay tomorrow to see if that works!
I'll let you know if it works. |

Do you have the link on the octal plug on the back panel in place?

I removed both relays today and cleaned all of the contact using alcohol. I continue to have the same "No Transmit" issue. Thanks for your suggestion.

Re: Yaesu FT-200 No Transmit Problem.
There could be any one of a number of things causing your trouble. More information is needed to give any useful help.
Are the relays operating when you press the PTT and does it stop receiving when you try to transmit? Does the meter reading indicate that the PA is drawing current? The more information you provide, the better the quality of any help will be! Paula |

It would be useful to know what test equipment the OP has.

OK that has a link to make the PA heaters work There also needs to be another dummy plug in the B7G "EXT VFO" socket, or the internal VFO won't work. If it's missing, its easy to make one. Here is my original one. looks like pins 1,2 &3 are linked and a 330 ohm between 4&5.

Re: Yaesu FT-200 No Transmit Problem.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I cleaned the relays, changed out capacitor C55, which is problematic in this radio, and cleaned all of the tube and socket contacts. There were also a couple of poor solder connections. Once this was done, the transmit function came back to life.
