Hi Aub, cannot remember all the details but they (RSGB) put quite a lot of stuff on Ebay a few years ago and the scope, if you can call it that with a crt and only a rectifier I bought.

As well as a nice 1930s Hammurland receiver.

Yes, that was the remains of the RSGB Museum. Some of the most important items went to other museums - the Marconi Maggie and Multiple Tuner, for example.

The online auction included many of the original prototypes of classic Radcom and Handbook designs, variously donated or bequeathed to the musum by the original designers. The sellers generally didn't know what they were, having given the curator the boot when the Potters Bar site was sold off.

A sorry tale indeed, and with the present financial state of many museums, something to worry those who have their own interesting collections and are looking for organisations that can be trusted with their preservation on their demise.

The RSGB Library suffered a worse fate, most of it ending up in a skip.
