Strange transistor test results.
I've got a Chinese component tester, (91make.taobao). I put a salvaged Motorola 2N3716 dated 7840 in it and it gave me "NPN, B=112, Uf=492mV. but miss-identified the E and C connections. This I don't understand. I seem to recall very early point contact transistors were symmetrical but not these.

Re: Strange transistor test results.
They can be confused by power transistors. These cheapo component analysers are useful but certainly not perfect - they often misidentify Ge devices, for example.
