A few years before the above book, there was the film 'Theremin: an Electronic Odyssey'. I found it particularly fascinating and recommend it.

Yes, I worked with the guy who did this…then came along TEMPEST testing…

I think the film was based on the book
Not sure how that could have been the case, as Glinsky won an award for the book in 2001, but the film was released in '93: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108323/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

They managed to track Theremin down and reunited him with Clara Rockmore.

For anyone who hasn't seen the film, I recommend it highly.

I developed the firmware (6809) on a development of a piece of kit that could do this (Tempest testing). The H/W was all ECL logic for speed and the power supply was huge. Can't be sure of my memory but 300A at 5V rings a bell, certainly extreme care had to be exercised!
