Default RCA 411 / MJ411 replacement equivalent for Revox B77 capstan PCB motor switching

As per title. I've found it hard to source a replacement or equivalent for this TO-3 power transistor. Not averse to using a plastic encapsulated semi if needed.

A 2SD 820 is suggested as a substitute but is rated at only 50W rather than the 411 at 100W.

Any help appreciated.

Tim.

Hi Tim,
I don’t have any suggestions for an alternative but I do have an MJ4111 if you’re desperate.

Thanks Paul, and in the same city in the world!

I forgot to update. I made an error in testing the existing semi. On retesting it (correctly) it checked out OK. The fault was in the LM302 IC which I've now replaced and all is now well with the capstan speed regulation.

Thanks again and will keep you in mind if I need an MJ411.

Tim.
