Default Re: The last rented radios?

There were a number of rented radios that slipped through the net after the companies such as Radio Rentals ceased renting radios. The customers account just continued unnoticed until the radio broke down and a service call was requested exposing the mistake. Many will remember the 'That's Life' programme with Gerry and the Radio Rentals Bakelite receiver that the old boy had been renting, unknown to RR! The way RR handled the situation was not good..

The remaining customers on wired radio in Wimbledon, I think it was British Relay, were given a Thorn AM/FM radio from their popular AC/DC printed circuit range free of charge when the service finally closed down. Must have been late 60's but only a guess. John.
