There are some good ones and that site is particularly good. What I did today was get a bit confident and apply my good technique for one cart to a slightly different design. The outcome wasn't catastrophic but I could have done better by taking a bit more time. At least I realised I'd also opened the cart upside down in time to avoid dropping the tape all over the floor!

Martin, Have attached some information on BSR's 8 track units made in about 1971. Looks like they made quadro versions!

Now have some 8 track tapes on their way to try with the Wien, so may well be ending up with lots of tape on the floor if I have to open up any of the tape cartridges

My Wien has arrived, no tapes yet so I looked inside and as half expected the drive belt has disintegrated into a very gooey mess, which I will cover soon in a new Thread.

Yes there were several Akai reel to reel models that also had an 8 track player/recorder including the 1800, 1800L, X-1800SD, X1800D-SS (quad) & X-1810D.

It was the X-2000S / X-2000SD that additionally included cassette.

After doing some extensive soak testing today on my Wien, am starting to understand the above.
