Default Looking for a special 4 pole Jack Socket

I am trying to find a source of these sockets, look like they take a standard quarter inch jack plug BUT these are 4 pole and much stubbier than a standard plug. I have been told it is part of the 3M FL4A family.
I can find the Plugs but the sockets appear to be like hens teeth to find.

You could try the American catalogue houses, Mouser and Digikey. They have extensive ranges and no bother shipping to blighty.

Mouser seems easier to search. Digikey is more extensive.

Presumably this isn't compatible with the GPO Jack 95A/Plug 420, to which your description sounds similar.

There is a 4-pole jack socket that looks like it should take a Plug 420 but doesn't! The body is much the same as the Jack 84 but the contacts are different.

I have a few in my junk box, but I assume the OP wants a company to buy them from rather than a couple of the sockets.

They are U-174/U connectors, used on aviation helicopter headsets and often refereed to as NATO connectors.

G'day all.

Not sure of the type numbers but they are used mainly for services aviation.
There are two sizes. Different lengths. Yes size does matter!
From memory the shorter ones are for chopper crew and the longer ones for general aircraft service.
They are used because they will separate easily.
In the services here they are referred to as a "bail out connector".
If you want to leave a machine in a real hurry you don't want the headset trying to strangle you.
If you can find an old derelict "Larkspur" headset you will find one on the chest plate. Socket that is. I got one for my David Clark headset that way.
Sorry I can not remember if it was the long one or the short one.

If you want more info I could go to my workshop and dig it out and measure for you.

All good.
Cheers.
