Perhaps not completely on topic but I think I can add it here.
In the elektor magazines of the late 1970s beginning 1980s I regularly see the following book mentioned: "SC/MP, uP for DIY part 1".
I do have the 4 parts of the junior computer but have never seen an Elektor booklet about the SC/MP. Because they talk about part 1, I suspect that there was more then 1 booklet.
Has anyone ever seen an Elektor book about the SC/MP or even seen a picture showing it? I add a page of the june issue 1980 of the Dutch Elektuur.

Benny

There were two books that likely consist of all published articles. I have the german version of those books. Volume 1 starts with RAMIO and then proceeds to HEXIO, 4K RAM and the power supply. Volume 2 contains NIBL and the NIBL SBC as well as the terminal. Here you can see the covers:

I expect that slowly over time more of these books will emerge, in pre-internet times paper books and magazines were everything. Both were treasured by enthusiasts, it was unheard of to dispose of a computer magazine after reading it!

So Michael, if I understand well, if I have the magazines covering the Elektor SC/MP, the books will not give me any more information? Of course it would be nice to find the Dutch versions but I just want to be sure I don't miss any details.

That is my impression. The book contents are not strictly structured by boards, but like in a magazine first the circuit is described and then the next chapter gives you the PCB, which can be confusing. That's the kind of cliff hanger magazines loved to use and that makes me think that the books do not contain anything new.

I remember the searching back and foreward when building my boards, a strange way of making things clear. what size do they have and if they are as small as the junior books, did they shrink the schematics or were they folded pages? Just want to know as I plan to have the booklets printed, getting the same result as the originals.

The books have A4 format, so I guess they just copied the articles.

I fetched these UK versions from storage last weekend.
Volume 1 has contributed programs which are on Elektor records ESS001 & -2.
Second has NIBL-E (ESS004) and more contributions, including a Disassembler, (ESS005).
I think volumes are a subset of the Elektor SC/MP articles.

Wow nice - I hoped they might turn up one day - hopefully we can get some scans to compare for differences one day.

Some projects used to have errata published in later issues. Hopefully these two books include any such corrections, if there were any.

Anyone familiar with the book "National Semiconductor SC/MP" by Janeka Ane Madisyn?
This seems to be more of a pamphlet than a book, only 4mm thick, maybe just datasheets and and an overview?
I can see "high something content by Wiki articles" which isnt promising...
Curious...

"High Quality Content". So all the content in the book is harvested from Wikipedia articles?
(That's what seems to be implied).

There is one you-know-where, item 165301695031 which prompted the question
£23 seems a lot for a plagiarised pamphlet but then its for charity (I assume? surely not a scam?)
Was half tempted but I think I'll pass... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OmniSc...nt_duplication

I have been avoiding that for some time as it is nothing more than scraped wikipedia data...

The 'Understanding Microprocessors with the MK14' book (Williamson / Dale) goes into a lot more detail than the original manual. It's out of print and original copies go for silly money now although there appear to be digital copies of it around. I'd gladly buy a paper copy if mssrs. Dale and Williamson could be persuaded to reprint it.

Me too - I keep meaning to ask the Museum at Cambridge as he is a Patron.

It would be nice if there was an easy to build booklet to accompany it so people could have as simple as possible KO PIC based MK14 machine to build... I had often thought being able to have second one hooked up to the VDU as an expansion then would be nice.

Thanks D thats good find
When I was at work I'd pop into the doc shop and get a PDF printed & bound for nowt - recently I asked a local print shop if they could do the same - they wanted £80 to print & bind a small book! How/where do students get their dissertations/theses printed I wonder?
