How can you get figure 8 in three core? Do you mean flat triple?

Figure 8 is flat twin.

Been around for years. Anglepoise lamps used in about 60 years ago. It bent nicely around the joints and stayed flat. Normally the centre one is earth unless someone has changed it around.

The Anglepoise bought for me new in 1968 has this type of flex. It cost 6 guineas then.

It's an MRP1: https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/marconi_mrp1.html
Interestingly it has U range valves, but could still have an isolated chassis.

Edit: No it hasn't: https://vintage-radio.net/forum/show...t=40683&page=2

These were very nice sounding players, partly due to a larger than average 9" x 5" EMI speaker. It is a "live" chassis design with an isolated earth. It's styled rather like a tape recorder. WARNING: It may still have it's original Garrard Mono GC2 (or GC8) cartridge fiited. If so, don't attempt to play Stereo LPs on this.

Yes, its original with mono cartridge. Thanks everybody for the information. Looking forward to getting stuck into this one.
