Question in the title says it all, can anyone help?

I worked there 1979--1986 but dont know that model,is there a letter missing after the C?

PS If its a Z its Salora ,If its D its Decca

Only things written on it are

"22c24 (model) text (spec) 14/9/92"

Do you have a pic of the tv or remote?

It could be a Rediffusion Mk4A - a picture of the set or its controller would identify it.

Does the power supply board have a red plastic cage around it?

The last Rediffusion MK4 came off the line in late 1986.

Odd - it appears to be a 22" but the date's all wrong for that - as is the C because they used to refer to the car registration year - that being 1985-ish. That would support the Rediffusion Mk4 theory - if it's one of those there's a small flap on the front with a silver toggle switch behind.

Unfortunately the set is one of my mums collection so its about 50 miles away!

Is it a Hitachi/GEC set ? I had a granada one from the early 80's and it shared a chassis with the Hitachi of the same era

If the model is actually C22CZ4 (Z not 2) then it is a Salora chassis and not a Rediffusion (ex Visionhire) set.

The initial C was sometimes left off the label.

C = Colour
22 = Screen size
C = Year code
Z = Salora
4 =Model ident

It's a Salora, and from memory a Salora-J cahssis. Not too bad - the main fault was no start-up due to the two 4.7 uF caps in the PSU - replace with good quality 105-degree parts.
Of course Ted's right - and as I said earlier the year codes are the same as the registration letters of cars - so this dates from 1985 ish. The text note must be when it was modified.
So does it work, then?
