Unusual 110 volt transformers by G.B. Equipments Ltd. revisited
Dear all,
I hope you do not mind a newbie question from the Netherlands. I am trying to help my father in getting to work a G.B. Equipments transformer which is supposed to power a Bell & Howell Model 613 16mm projector. . I found this forum looking for information about the transformer. I have a problem finding a power cable with a matching plug. The shape is exactly that of a photo I found in the original thread (which unfortunately was closed so I couldn't follow up on that one): https://vintage-radio.net/forum/atta...6&d=1430586180 In that thread, someone remarked that the plug type is Bulgin, but if I look for Bulgin plugs, the pins appear similar, but they are all round instead of the vaguely triangular shape I have. My questions: - is my plug also Bulgin? - where can I find the triangular shaped plug - if I cannot find a matching one, can I modify a round one to match the triangular fitting? Thanks a lot! Hans |

I think that`s a Belling Lee connector.

Thank you for the suggestion, Barry. The locations of the pins appear to match but I am afraid they are still somewhat different:
This is what I find when looking for Belling Lee (thin pins inside the tubes): http://www.allez-y.info/pict/uploads/GB/belling_lee.jpg G.B. Equipments: http://www.allez-y.info/pict/uploads...input1_res.jpg It seems to me that this will not fit, but perhaps I am overlooking something? |

It's a Belling-Lee L1349A connector.

yes a Belling Lee L1349A/FS
needs to be the /FS version as a mating half not easy to find as over here in UK all auction houses throw out the leads so they do not have to safety test the unit and sell as display only . has created quite a shortage off projector leads and connectors |

Thanks a lot!
So, this appears to be what I have in my transformer: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BELLING-L...E/323788645127 and this is what I need to connect it to 220V: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PIN-MIN...P/382057922665 |

Thank you!
So, I understand that what I have in my transformer is an L1349-CP (first image). To connect I can *not* use an L1436A-P (second image) which is generally on offer on ebay. I haven't been able to find an L1436A-FS yet - if anyone knows where to find one, a real one or even just an image, please let me know. |

The "FS" version looks very much like what us military-radio types call a "penthouse" connector because they were used in a range of waterproof 12V-powered 'bulkhead' lights used to illuminate army tents [whose accomodation was really-rather-modest but was 'penthouse-class' compared with the standard infantry 2-man-bivvy].
They were also used to supply 12V power to the likes of the R209 radio. |

I recognised them immediately because a company I worked for many years ago used them for PA speaker wiring on outdoor hire jobs.

Hi. The seller you linked to (post 6) on ebay has this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BELLING-L...wAAOSwOVlb3B-f socket listed.
It's a chassis socket CS as opposed to a free socket FS. Maybe you could find something to bolt on the back to insulate and grip a cable. David. Last edited by teetoon; 21st Oct 2020 at 12:54 am. |

I think I may go for that one if nothing else pops up on eBay. Thanks!
