Default Original Nitromors in Aldi

There are small cans of Methanol based Nitromors in Aldi.

They do not contain dichloromethane. I can't remember the active ingredient.

Are they any good?

Think these are the current types and less effective compared to the original.

The original did contain DCM which was banned by the EU in a 2009 directive.
Sale to professionals was banned in 2012, not sure about use in industry.

I purchased some Nitromors a few years ago not realising they had changed the formulation and it was nothing like as effective as I remembered.

Wickes do a useful paint and varnish stripper based (IIRC) on benzyl alcohol. It isn't in the the "nuclear category" as was DCM, but I've used it quite a lot over the years.

I would imagine that methanol is of little use.

Some years ago and unaware of this change I bought a big bottle of B&Q paint stripper to do a large area of exterior woodwork. It was hopeless so I resorted to a blowtorch and scraper.

I have a few jobs to do so will try the Wickes variety.

This all explains why I can't remove some bad exterior paint with Nitromors, perhaps the Wickes stuff might be worth a try. I have tried a blowlamp and hot air gun to no success as the paint is on stone.
