Default Help Identifying TVs

Hi everyone.

There are 6 TVs on my web site which I do not know the model number of. I wonder if anyone could help by supplying what they think may be the correct model number of the set.

The set brands are:

1. White Ibbotson
2. White Ibbotson
3. Stella
4. Sobell
5. Philips
6. Granada

If anyone could help, that would be excellent.

Thanks everyone.

From Mike.

And, er, if it's not pushing my luck too much, there is a 7th set which I think may be the most difficult of all. It's an invicta.

Thanks everyone.

Hello Mike,
The White Ibbotson sets were only known as the MK1 or MK2. I don't think they had any model numbers. The Sobell looks like a T90/91. [Radio and TV servicing volume 4 page 383. ]Regards, John.

Hi John.

Thank you for the Sobell number. T90 does sort-of ring a bell actually. Unfortunately the big White Ibbotson doesn't share its circuit with either the Mk1 or Mk2. And although the R&T Servicing books only lists the "model numbers" as Mk1 and Mk2, I'm fairly sure that at least some of them did actually have proper model numbers. I seem to recall that the model numbers were just a 4-digit number, but this is only from a White Ibbotson service sheet that I had.

Thanks John.

Hi Mikey,
at a guess I would say an Invicta T112 variant.
I thought from memory this one had a metal cone tube. I think you will need to take a photo with the back cover off so we can be sure.

Cheers
Andy

Hi John, Mike and Andy.

Thank you for your help. So far it has been very useful and I can change my pictures and descriptions for those sets now.

Andy, you may well recognise that set as it's the one that we went to collect from London in a Transit van. It does have a metal-cone tube in it. Unfortunately it's all wrapped up and down in storage in Devon at the moment so it's a bit difficult to get to.

Thanks everyone.

From Mike.

I'm sure I mentioned it some time back ...

The Stella is a ST1481A :-

Judging by the size of the screen on the White Ibbotson #2, possibly model 2015 (20inch x 15inch).

Like to know the model num of that invicta (and scrounge a piccy) - if we were running a sweepstake then I'd go for T118. Have I interpreted things right and it has a 16" metal cone tube ?

TTFN,
Jon

Hi Jon.

You may well have mentioned that Sobell set previously. I know someone did, but I obviously didn't make a note of it. Thank you for the Stella model number.

The 2nd White-Ibbotson has a 28"(ish) screen. Well, it's 24" by 18" - Would that make it a 2418?

Thanks Jon.

If your Invicta uses a metal cone tube I would guess that the television section is the same as the PYE FV2C. This set has flywheel sync and a toggle switch on the back to disconnect the sync pulses to assist line hold setting. It must date from 1951/52. A grand looking job and I have never seen one before. Regards, John.

Hi Jon.

I have uploaded a zip file with the only pictures I have of the set - They're fairly high resolution so I'm sure you can do your magic with them - How do you manage to strip away the background from your pictures so well? All my attempts at ever doing this have failed miserably... :-(

The pictures are at:

http://www.oldtechnology.net/misc/Invicta T118 Pics.zip

You may (or may not actually) recognise someone in one of the pictures from when we collected the set.

Thanks Jon.
