Default Database of transformers and knobs etc.

Is there any mileage in having a database of transformers and knobs etc?

I've got some output transformers and knobs and no idea what sets they might be for.

If there was a picture database I could identify.

The problem is, I suppose, is that there are thousands of designs.

Good idea.

To rewind an output transformer the number of turns and wire thickness is needed but can often be measured, however, the inductance depends on the iron gap which cannot be measured if the winding is open circuit.

The gap could be set to get the proper inductance now that inductance meters are available at reasonable cost.

A much bigger problem is the hundreds of hours needed to compile all this!

These can often be pressed into service for a variety of sets (op trans) by feeding with low voltage 50Hz and measuring their ratio.
Mains transformers, simply applyt mains and measure voltages.
