Smile Radio themed pub in Ripon, Yorks. (Actually in Richmond).

Hi,
Many years ago (possibly in the '80s) someone told me about a pub in Ripon, north Yorkshire which was decorated with lots of old radios. I never got to see it myself, and wonder if it actually existed? Is it still there, I ask myself (probably not after all these years).
Have any members of this erstwhile forum seen it and sampled a pint or two there?
Cheers, Pete.

Hi,
I'm not sure about a Radio themed pub in Ripon but I am going to the annual radio rally there next week so am quite happy to make enquiries for you if no-one confirms before then.

I bet the sets wouldn't be working..... Would love to go there though.... I'll make inquires.... My dad is an avid metal detectorist and goes Ripon quite a lot with the club that he is a member of. Next time he goes down there, I'll ask him to look for it.

I've lived in Ripon for the last twenty odd years and haven't come across it although I must have visited most of the pubs. I'll ask around though.

My Local in Poole (The Pilot) has quite a few old Radios.

They had just 4 until 6 months ago now they have more than a dozen.

Some are quite interesting sets.

I have some pictures somewhere I will try to load them

Cheers

The "Duke of Cumberland" in Whitstable (Kent) has a number of vintage sets in the bar.

I hope they have a beer garden, in 12 months time you may not be able to get in the bar!

The Herschel arms in Slough used to (may still) have a lot of old radios round the walls. A little gem of an Irish pub, SHMBO put me in there when she went shopping (oh joy), somewhere in SlougH has to be nice! She goes alone now as you can't get me+shopping in a sports car.

Smile Re: Radio themed pub in Ripon, Yorks.

Hi,
During the night my lonely brain cell suddenly woke me up and reminded me that the pub mentioned in my original post was in Richmond, north Yorkshire, not Ripon.
That was the name of the street we used to live in many years ago! Doh!
Sorry 'bout that.
Cheers, Pete.

Richmond has quite a few pubs. I can rule out at least four as not having anything radio related, but I don't get up that way as often as I ought to in order to check the others
