Military/ Industry vintage miscellany at St Ives auction.
Various items from lot 410 onwards at this St. Ives (the Cambridgeshire one) auction, some familiar items, some distinctly specialist. 21/11/20.
Usual disclaimer- not my typical stamping ground but my sister is a local and regular, and contacted me about "loads of military stuff". https://auctions.hyperionauctions.co...urrentPageNo=8 Colin |

Scanning through
Lot 453 is a Boonton Q meter. And they are very good. I used one for years, at HP! Unlike the Marconi, this is complete in one box. But there is a thermopile inside that could be burnt out and irreplaceable. Lot 479 is a telephone line signal level meter and weighted noise meter (psophometer - you can guess what that was called in the plant...) Bit too specialised for us, but contains a gorgeous taut band meter... might even be an unusual logarithmic one. The meter responding to the log oof the current applied, pointer rammed off leftwards when not reading enough because log of zero is minus infinity. David

Some interesting older test equipment in the auction.
The T&C's are a bit odd, they have two "conditions of sale", one says items have to collected on or after the day of sale and the other by 4pm Wednesday. David |

There's a R4187/T4188 aircraft HF transmitter/receiver combo - as used in V-bombers - there - split across two separate lots.
No sign of the rather-necessary control-boxes or cables though |
