First time at Mikey's meet and had a fantastic time watching the "entertainment". Took a few pictures of the fight with the Ekco and I hope the VCRs were not left out for the dustmen.

Pity the tube turned out to be a dud.

All in all a good weekend with the meet at NVCF as well.

Roll on next year if we can't persuade you to do another this year..... Thanks for having us all old bean. And the tea and biccies.....

No news on the Ekco yet. Funny one - All the parts were right but it just did not work. Well odd.

Thanks Mikey!

Cheers,

Steve P.

And thank you so much for inviting us. Sorry I couldn't make it this year but May 2019 isn't far away!

The past couple of years I attended with the added hospitality from Steve were fantastic.

I was sorry to hear Courtney and Khrissy have gone their separate ways. Hope both of them are ok.

Best wishes,
Brian

I had a great time too. It was great to catch up with everyone.

Indeed it was. Fernseh, HuntsSmoothingBomb and myself worked on it through the night. It was a dry joint on the cathode bypass cap of the line output valve. I bet the original fault though was the 20L1 line oscillator valve that was replaced earlier due to low emission.
Anyway we gave up at 3am having sadly come to the conclusion that Mikey's "good" spare tube was in fact as flat as a pancake We checked it on Mikey's B&K when we got up for breakfast and the needle wouldn't budge at all Oh well, another one for the skip...

Cheers
Andy

A great weekend and such a pity the CRM153 was useless. I converted the chassis from the original CRM152B. This is a 2volt triode, the 153 is a 13volt tetrode.
An A1 supply was obtained from the boost rail with the .3amp heater introduced into the bottom end of the .1 and .2 amp heater chains.

I had disconnected that bias cap for testing and must have just tacked it back on. As Andy mentioned I think the original fault was the 20L1 replaced after I had dry jointed the bias cap......

On arriving home my Sunday evening brought on a state of panic requiring the aid of Nurse Edith Cavell.
On clearing out the back of my pick up I discovered a mystery silver control flap. Odd I thought, where did it come from?

I picked it up and turned it over. Can you imagine my horror when I saw the words FIDELITY AVS 1600 printed on it...

Ha! Ha! very funny and if I find out who set of my panic attack I will forward the medical bill to them for payment and yes I was charged double time as it was Sunday...

A really great day at Mike's and a similar day on Sunday at the NVCF.
Thanks Mike for letting us have the run of your house and getting rid of at least six car loads of junk to the dump!

Regards, John.

Clearly everyone had a great time at your place Mikey - it's so kind of you to provide open-house for us all.

I'm just really sorry I wasn't able to be there this year...still next year will come soon enough! ...and I was hoping the Ekco that gave you all a headache wasn't the magnificent specimen I brought up for you last year!

Cheers, Trevor

Thank you everyone for coming and making it such a brilliant day. I had a fantastic time.

Sorry John re the flap - I just couldn't resist. I know how much you admire those magnificent behemoths. (You can send me the bill for your nurse.)

Anyway, we'll do it all again next year with any luck.

Thanks again everyone.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

I couldn't persuade John to recreate his famous "biting the end off a CRT" pose but here's the great JW holding the dead CRM152 - before replacing it with another dead "known good" tube. Oh dear...

A great shame I couldn't make it, Mike. Blood test (it appeared to be red) and car stuff.
Hopefully next year ...

The NVCF meet looked good, Paul and everyone.
