You could be looking at something like 43SWG for a 2000 Ohm bobbin. It's a lot of work to get wrong! But until we can find the actual diameter, you'd need to start somewhere.

Right... There's a picture of a 59D bell movement on Bob's Telephone Pages and it's clearly labelled 17000 turns of 0.08mm wire. So nearest is 44SWG. Phew!

You're welcome. I'd be interested to see how you get on with this. I possess a small hand-operated coil winder with a turn counter on it, and I've successfully rewound a couple of 26A Alnico magneto generators and an auto transformer from a Beethoven shot-firing exploder. But I've never done anything as small as 44SWG before.

Might be worth having a go at it!
