Re: Ekco A23 in a parcel!
Hi all,
the set is safely home now. I've made a start on cleaning up the chassis. There is light rust on the top of the main chassis. I rubbed the worst of it off with a wooden lollypop stick. I then rubbed it with a cloth soaked in T-cut and wiped it down afterwards. I removed the left hand (viewed from the back) IF can cover and polished it with a scouring pad soaked in T-cut, the other one still needs cleaning. The sub chassis which supports the tuning capacitor and scale, is more of a problem. Being in the form of a tray, the sub chassis has retained moisture and rusted quite badly. The tuning capacitor does not look too clever either. I'll have to think about how to tackle it. The underside of the chassis is quite clean and virtually untouched. One wire has been replaced, but worryingly there is a loose red wire attached to the tone control switch. I shall have to see where it is supposed to go. That's all for now. Cheers Andy

Hi Andy,
That looks rough, If it looks like giving you too many problems just say and I can let you have (FOC) the spare chassis that came with mine. I am told it came from a working set. I’d keep the valves for now till I get a chance to put some more time to mine. |

Hi Dennis,
I might take you up on that. I will see how I get on at the weekend. It does seem however that your spare chassis is very clean. Cheers Andy

Re: Ekco A23 in a parcel!
Hi Dennis,
thank you for your kind offer. I shall take you up on it and have sent you a PM. Valves are no problem for me as the originals look to be ok and I have plenty of spares anyway. The old chassis will at least provide me with all the correct waxies. This means that I can restuff them all at once and then swap them into the new chassis one-by-one. Cheers Andy
