12V DC socket - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Could anyone tell me what kind of socket this is please, and whether I can get a plug or cable to fit please?
Height is around 9mm.

I think you need one of these:

I haven't got the Socket number handy, but for sure somebody will
get it quicker than me.

You might want to check the dimentions, but I think this is it.

Somebody was asking the same question recently.

Thanks. That looks like it might fit. Found an identical one on eBay with free postage and have now placed an order. I couldn't find dimensions anywhere so we will have to see whether it fits when it arrives!

This also turned up but the photo is a bit fuzzy particularly where the plug is shown:

I wasn't sure whether it was the same fit and whether the clip would get in the way.

I have seen something like this on a Sanyo black and white potable tv 12 volt / mains option
what is the device you are connecting too

The one on the Ebay link is not really a suitable connector!

Even if it can be made to fit, it is not polarized, (at least in this application)
so there's the risk of it going in the wrong way. The Catch will
probably need removing as well.

These Plugs are not difficult to find, but they are not the highest quality and
can be a loose or tight fit in the Socket depending on the manufacturer.
This is common unfortunately.

They were used a lot on CB Radios and Portable Cassette Players
back in the Day.

This is the one I have actually ordered:

It is identical to the CB2 cable on Amazon.

The CEA-CBH2W shown in that thread (thanks for posting the link) looks looks a little different but doesn't seem to be available on Amazon. It does appear to be available from a couple of eBay sellers, but from the USA, so the postage hikes the cost up quite considerably.

My purchase should hopefully turn up in a couple of days so I will then know how close the fit is, but point noted!
