HeathKit GD-1U Dip Meter new dial
Acquired a very good GD-1U and although it was mint internally, have replaced the rectifier and smoothing caps, plus made the mains switch DP as curiously for a UK model (with a DPST switch) HK only seemed to wire it SP.
The dial sticker was tired and also a bit off in terms of calibration. So, drew up a revised one and both calibrated it plus added the optional three 'Low Frequency' X,Y&Z coil ranges. A fair old faff to design the artwork, but worth it I think. Printed on a label and cut it out using a scalpel blade on a pair of compasses. It could do with being a mm or so smaller - might do that as I used easy peel stickers. |

Re: HeathKit GD-1U Dip Meter new dial
What a great idea! I am sure that many of us have these GD-1U meters and have encountered the same problem. Over time, dirt creeps in and makes the markings illegible. The other Heathkit version was better because the dial is more enclosed.
