Token Ring support
I've got some Token Ring hardware - a couple of Cisco Routers and a switch for token ring over UTP which are all taking to each other.
I also have one ISA and one PCMCIA network card that I'd like to get hooked up. Can anyone suggest an OS that may have support such older Linux distros or one of the *BSD flavours? I could try with Win98 or NT4 but I'd prefer a non-M$ solution if possible. Thanks optimistically,

Re: Token Ring support
The obvious choice is IBM OS/2.
Certainly Token Ring was fully supported from V3.0 (Warp) onwards, I can;t be sure but I think V2 (386 or later processor needed) also had full Token Ring support. OS/2 V1.X networking was only supported on the 'Extended editions'. I may still have some OS/2 documentation somewhere but alas no software. Mike |

Re: Token Ring support
I've still got a copy of OS/2 Warp on floppies somewhere... I recall it had a TCP/IP stack included.
I made some progress with OS Support. NetBSD has support for some IBM cards in V5.1. It recognises my ISA card - A Madge Straight Blue ISA Plus - unfortunately I can't get any packets flowing between that and the rest of the network (Cisco 3920 switch and 3620 router). The other card I have is a Xircom PCMCIA card which I know definitely isn't supported by NetBSD. I'm not too familiar with the Novell stuff so I'll avoid that for now...
