Default War Time Bunker CH4

References to war times comms on here [Bletchley etc] and I think, mention of a bunker somewhere [?] reminds me that last Wednesdays Restoration Man program showed the excavation of one of these.
Fighter Command's 12 Group HQ at RAF Watnall. After the war it was also a part of the ROTOR Group monitoring the nuclear threat. Should be of interest to some Forum members I think. I'm hoping to go and stay there when it's finished. There is something very similar near Bexhill at RAF Wartling. You drive past and there is no sign of a 200' long concrete chamber beneath the field. Locals tell me that despite the immense effort involved, it was built quietly in the fifties with no one discussing what was going on. A bit like Bletchley I suppose. I'm assuming the program will be on catch up!

There are also extensive notes and good photos on line under Research Study Group Sites Watnall. Site Records
