I had an Elan programmer from the same period bought from new at an enormous cost. 'Term' is the answer and it will also use a simple file transfer protocol to download files but its too long ago for me to remember the name.

Yes, weren't these devices costly new!

Actually, since most of the output file formats are text-based (eg intel hex), any simple terminal program (hyperterminal, term, RealTerm - my favourite) set to "capture" will work. The old xmodem/ymodem etc protocols were excellent for transferring binary files intact but aren't needed or used by the CP30. Text capture (to a notepad .txt file) has worked fine for me and enabled me to send firmware versions from 1970s test equipment to other electronics dabblers, for them to blow locally.

A blast from the past. I recall having a Stag 'gang banger' to burn piles of EPROMS we supplied to EMI who were building the Sinclair QL in Feltham. Very often we got a call to say "software upgrade, erase them all. New master PROMS will be handed over tonight" A Quantum fLop !

Last night I checked my old archived software, as in the past I used Stag programers at work, and I owned a more basic one I used at home. This consisted of a PC board, ribbon cable and external cream metal box with a single zif socket. It would function as a copier, controlled by Stag's PC software, or would copy the eprom contents to a file that could be blown later. Alas, none can be found.

I am about to change the Akku Pack in my CP30, can you please send me the manual and the software? I have at the moment nothing, only the CP30 and I hope you can help me.

The input voltage must be 18V or is this wrong too?

I hope you can help me and I will today fix the Akku Pack and test it.
If anyone needs a CP30 Akku too please contact me as I think I can fix another one too ;-)

Nice Sunday here out of Germany from Jürgen.

Jeremy mate,do you think that John Richards would have the original manual for the stag pp40.... I have recently got one of these and the only literature I've got for it ,is from Matthieu site.
Much obliged Roger.

I really don't know but it's worth sending him a messaage to see if he can help.
Or try stag.co.uk and see if Prashanta Paul has anything.
I only have a home number for John Richards. Pm me if you need it.
