Default Question relating to resistor mounting in an AM radio circuit

While building an AM radio, is there any disadvantage if the resistors are not mounted vertically ? Some older sources seem to favour vertical mounting, but is there a scientific reason behind this, apart from possible space saving on the PCB ? Can someone please advise.

I's always good practice to keep track and lead length as short as practical, but at MW/LW frequencies a change in component orientation is unlikely to have any ill-effects, and even if it does, they will end up nullified during alignment.

As Graham says, at MW/LW it will make no practical difference whether they are vertical or horizontal.

It will either be space considerations or designer bias as to how they are set out.

One thing I have done at times is use vertically mounted resistors as convenient test point connections.

Thanks for the clarification. My preliminary tests using horizontal mounting are encouraging.
