I believe that the youtube vlogger gets more revenue if the adverts are allowed to run in full rather than skipping them when that becomes available. Just a thought to maximise his revenue.

I pay for YouTube Premium so no adverts but the creators I watch get some of that money.

I must admit that many of the projects Mark does, in my view are not cost effective for a normal customer, the content is good and his engineering fault tracing exceptional.
Others have tried to jump on the band waggon (My Mate XXXX) that person in my opinion has very little experience and could end up causing somebody to get hurt, issues here are people with no experience assume that he is correct and following like sheep
The biggest issue I have is, I have yet to see anyone take ESD precautions in modern day equipment (ESD Wrist strap / Snake/ Mat) on YouTube, I dread to think of the overall damage that could / will occur

He’s finally finished repairing the Aiwa cassette deck (video posted yesterday). An interesting project but it can’t have been cost-effective with the many hours spent on it.

At 35K views he would only be up to about £150 in ad sense revenue. Donating a fiver would make several orders of magnitude more difference ;-)

I watched that last night. A spectacular debugging and repair effort by Mark, beautifully shot and edited. That cassette deck was an absolute horror to work on. I felt that Mark got a bit out of his depth when it came to the critical alignment stage: he's clearly not a magnetic tape recording specialist, so the need to get playback and recording levels set right for Dolby to work wasn't made clear, and the effect of adjusting bias was very muddled. There was no attempt to assess or optimise the performance of what was a pretty high-end piece of kit. In the end it was clear that the heads were probably worn out, rendering the whole result a bit disappointjng. But it was great to watch and anyone who's prepared to rewind motors in a cassette deck gets credit from me!
