Default What glue for Rexine?

Morning folks,
As title suggests, any tips/advice/glue to use for re-sticking Rexine?
Thanks
Duke (Laurie)

Retrospecialist supplier of papar backed and tolex/vynide rexine recomend clear drying pva formulated for paper use not wood glue ,available on Ebay . but I don't have a problem sticking the odd bit down with thinned down pva wood glue. clean any overspill off with warm water. Mick.

I use evo-stick contact adhesive, the trick is to get an even thin coating on both surfaces, then press together.
Any surplus can be rubbed off after half an hour while still rubbery.

Hi

I would suggest using a spray adhesive, you can obtain this from most diy stores, it is a lot easier to apply as well.

I also usually use PVA spray adhesive.

Some types of PVA wood glue are acidic, which is why they are not recommended for use with paper. For bookbinding I use a pH-neutral PVA-type adhesive, EVA, which dries rapidly and costs around £8 for a 250ml tub.

Personally I also would use traditional Evostik for Rexine. Paperback books whose spines I re-glued with with Evostik in the late 1960's are still secure and the glue has remained flexible. I just hope they haven't changed the formulation!

The two I use are fevibond for small jobs and Thixofix for larger jobs, both available via a google on the net. Thixofix was originally a dunlop product and is getting harder to find. This is the stuff that the cabinet makers used!

i'd avoid using pva as certain types can react with the material.

Regards

Spray contact adhesive usually works if it's a large area that's behing worked on, small patches would usually call for a brush on equivalent.
The spray variant is rather messy at times and should be avoided if working on small areas.
