Default Dynatron R86. Volume control noisy.

Hi All,
I have an issue with the volume control knob on the Dynatron R86 radiogram I am restoring, that is it seems to work fine on certain levels but others it buzz's or even no noise move it a bit more and works again any help appreciated.

Squirt some contact cleaner such as Servisol 10 into the volume control potentiometer. That's the bit the shaft, which is driven by the knob, disappears into. There's generally a gap by the tags which you can poke the nozzle into.

Having done that work the volume control from one extreme to the other several times.

l've had success with dismantling these potentiometers and cleaning the carbon tracks, re tensioning the spring contacts slightly, and even gently bending them so they contact an unused part of the carbon track.

When there's no chance of replacing the part, it can be worthwhile, although contact cleaner (NOT WD40!!) can work well as mentioned above.

l have found Servisol Super 10 to be the best, but l guess everyone knows that already.

WD 40 works just as well!

But, if that does not work or even servisol, I would replace the control.

Servisol seems to have done the job but think there might be a bad point as it all works good apart from a particular volume level.
