Smoothing caps
I'm needing to replace smoothing capacitors in Philips 141u, in the schematic it states I need 50x2 mfds at 250 volts. Those exact values don't seem to be available anywhere. I've looked at all the usual places. Can someone please inform me what I can safely use that are available.

Re: Smoothing caps
47uF 400V
A pair of modern radial or axial caps should fit in the original can with room to spare.

Re: Smoothing caps
I do not know the size of the capacitor, so not sure if it helps but cricklewood electronics do caps which are 50 plus 50 at 500 volts in a 35mm dia can for around £8.30 plus delivery and Vat.
Other than that is there not a supply through the BVWS, or as Graham has said restuff the big can with modern caps. Adrian |

Re: Smoothing caps
Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I am stuffing the original can, so luckily the cheaper option suits me fine. I was about to order these but just wanted reassurance i was doing right with them being of different value. Thanks, much obliged.
