Belts for JVC HR-D120/Ferguson 3V35
Hi. I just got a HR-D120 which is what I wanted for 2 year now. The problem is that FF and REW is sluggish and when I press play, the VCR doesn't complete the loadind cycle so I checked the loading belt and it is definetely bad! My question is, can I order a belt kit for the HR-7700/3V23, 29 or 30 and put it in my HR-D120/3V35. I know that the 3V23 has a direct-driven idler assy and my 3V35 is belt driven but my main interest is the loading belt which is having trouble. Thanks a lot.

Hi Fivos,
The correct belt would be best for your machine. The loading belt has a tough job. Belts from similar VCRs might look about the right size but are slightly different. Donberg do a belt kit for the 3V35 for EUR 1.74. You might find that the loading mechanism grease has gone hard and sticky which puts a great strain on the loading belt. If that's the case the gears will need cleaning and regreasing using a grease that is compatible with plastic components. Michael. |

Thanks. I bought a kit for the 3V29/30 and I have replaced the capstan and loading belts and now it loads and plays the tape! I have another problem however. The sound works fine but the picture is either black or it shows snowy picture (the heads are clean). I tried a recording with the machine and the picture is very bad but it recorded a perfect sound. Any thoughts?

I had one once where the sw25 signal was of low amplitude and gave the impression of clogged video heads it turned ot to be the 9v rail was low at 5v the cause was the preset 9v variable resistor in the psu

Have you inspected the head tips under magnification, to check for any damage?

Fivos, you need a oscilloscope, to trace the video signal.

Here's the video PCB and the schematic. The head amp is on the PCB.
