Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
My Thoughts too, im going to leave it as the 2.2, but I'll check those other resistors Chris suggested to see if any have gone high in value.

R417 in the manual is 100k but fitted is 120K and its measureing at 117.6k. R416 is 33K measuring at 32.1K.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
R420 is a 1.2K measuring at 1K and R437 connected in parallel with it is a 2.7K Measuring at 2.1K

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
new problem, my meter slipped when checking the voltage on D405, dont know what it hit, probably the horizontal line pin, there was a sqeak and the set shut down, it comes back on but no pic, standby led dimmer than usual, Ive got a horizontal line if i turn up the g2, no 26v coming off Pin 5 of the flyback for the vertical. 110v going into the flyback at Pin 3.
any ideas?

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
Can anyone help with this, I dont get why Pin 5 has no voltage on the fb when 110v to the flyback is present and the set starts up

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
You won't get a sensible DC voltage reading directly from the pin of the FB transformer as it is predominantly a pulse wave form at line scan rate here, you need to check at the relevant rectifier/smoothing cap for that line derived rail.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
well dont i feel stupid, that was explained to me before, still such a noob at this.
Checked the reciftier I either get 0v or 0.1v, replaced the recifier, same thing.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
Is the feed resistor from that pin ok, it probably is a fusible type, I am only going by things generally here as I don't have the circuit.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
I've put the set away for the night as i was just getting more and more annoyed at myself for letting the probe slip and cause this. I havnt checked that resistor yet but i know which one it is its a 68ohm fuseable that i did have to replace before so it could very well just be that thats all thats wrong (here's hopeing)

Another thing, never ever feel stupid, you are obviously still learning, you seem to have the tenacity just keep trying you will get there in the end.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
Thanks, Still learning true, I'll keep at it. I'll eventually get this set fixed, just gotta be patient...and probably order more parts still have to fix the original problem once this latest one is solved

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
Just looked at the snippet of a diagram, that feed (R408) resistor looks to be 0.68 ohms, not 68 as mentioned up thread, 68 ohms definitely seems on the high side in that position.

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
You're right it is 0.68ohms. Dont know why I had 68 in my head, I'll check that resistor tomorrow when ive a bit of free time and see if its a dud

We will wait and see how you get on, hopefully you don't need another frame chip

Re: Help With Vertical Circuit. Capacitor getting extremely hot
so I actually found one from a spare board from a philips, fitted it and...nothing, same result, doing some other snooping at other parts of the circuit and i dont want to sound silly but ive a few questions that only you guys can answer for me...
1) On the Primary side of the Horizontal Driver Transformer Ive no continuity, I do on the Secondary side, Im 99.9% sure thats a problem. 2) The Horizontal Driver Transistor I Believe has a Collector to Emitter problem, shouldnt this show as OL on a multimeter using diode test mode? Im getting a reading on it. 3) R406 Feed resistor to 110v supply for the Flyback is getting very hot if the set runs for minute. C406 was getting warm but not hot. I have a single horizontal line when the set runs, if all of the above constitues a problem with the Horizontal circuit should i not have that line at all and would the flyback even start as it does with the above problems? Trying to understand this a bit more so i can narrow down this fault
