Default Murphy U506 cabinet finish

Hi. I am in the process of restoring a Murphy U506 radio cabinet, and found that the gold trim around the push-button keys had been damaged in parts. Is there a way of reviving this surface, or are similar materials available today to replace this material, please?
Cheers
Mike

In the absence of a photo, and not knowing this model, much depends on whether it is 'gold anodised' alloy or electroplated plastic - both of which are restorable at a cost! Is it possible to touch up with a gold paint (unlikely to get decent match) or even gold-leaf applied using gold size?

Hi. Many thanks for your reply. I just thought of buying a touch - up gold paint pen, so I will try and find an artist shop in Leeds.
Cheers

Hi. I managed to buy a gold marker pen from Rymans stationers in Leeds. It was difficult surface to apply the gold paint at first, but in the end I succeeded. The result is that it is better than it was.
