Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
I do not have a manual - sorry, but the company you mention is excellent - professional copies, all provided in a nice folder - I ordered a manual from them for my E724 receiver. Amazed at the quality.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
hello from germany.
SWOB III is not a simply manual, that is a huge box of manuals. It is the best to explain exactly what is the problem, to specify it. Is it a common problem or a special and rare problem? I can give you the scans of coarse, but please don`t ask me to scan them all, it is toooo much and the most of that is for a repair not required. In your module are red blocks, they are ERO tantalium electrolytic capacitors. The are almost the problem, you have a shorted PSU there. At first - remove them, and test again if the shorting is removed, when yes, replace it with a simply 100µF/25V Shorting in a plugin. Remove the plugin, it is only one screw in the front plate, and turn ON the SWOB to see if the shorting is removed when the plugin is not installed. If yes, you have a shorting in this plugin. Take care in the LinLog, the demodulator diodes in the dezifix input plug are heated, temperated by a regulated power transistor, if this unit get warm it is not defect, it is working A warm input plug means, all is ready. Give him time to do that before testing accurate. Sorry, the bad elko is below this plug, if you are to lazy to resold it disconnect it from downside, that is no problem. The PSU. it use 723 ICs (the round type), and following power transistors. There is a over-current-protection, so the PSU will not damage when there is a low voltage shorted. About the service manuals. They have printed 2 full maps for the frame, and one book for each plugin. The are more various plugins in the catalog then the SWOB have slots, so each SWOB have only some but never all of them. This means: his papers will not be compatible when your SWOB have another plugin. Also the oscillator boards: in the description SWOB III have 10 slots for oscillators, and your unit have only the oscillators inside what the pre owner have ordered, oftenly there are only 4 of them. But there was some custom: R+S listed 10 oscillators, call them common oscillators. And they have build custom oscillators following the desires of the client. There is a little book for each oscillator, and for custom oscillators mostly with a hand painted application from the engineer who have solded it. I have a SWOB III, full loaded + extendet, it have 12 oscillators and works up to 1.25GHz. So there are some books for oscillator boards also. Martin

PSU:
the 47µF on the boards can be replaced by a fresh one.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
Thanks Martin for your information, i have big respect for you knowledge for this UNIT
95% my problem is in LIN/LOG plug, Shorting in a plugin. I removed the C11 capacitor (negative power supply) and here I still have a short circuit at the soldering points for the C11 capacitor I think this is a very bad indication... You can send me the schematic of this plugin? P.S. later I will see the wobulator and describe how many slots it has |

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
I have one of these and replaced every electrolytic as I had problems with shorted power rails on the main boards.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
Hi Martin, I have the whole unit, it's the size of a small car. I have a short circuit in the lin / log plug BN4247204 / 60. If this plug is out of the UNIT then the Si2 T4 fuse is ok.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
cut the wire from C116 upside and test if the short is still there.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
C116 10µF 20V
C103 + C110 0,1µF C107 (not shure) 3µ9 one of them is the bad boy. I am pretty shure to get a catch by C116
