Re: Plastic glue
The model centre I brought the Plasticweld from did not sell the MEK solvent cleaner. In fact the shop man had never heard of it.

Re: Plastic glue
Now I come to think of it, I bought my bottle of MEK from a trader's stall at a local model railway exhibition about 5 years ago. I was surprised to see it on sale to the non-industrial public.

Re: Plastic glue
I've mentioned them before, but I will recomend the '4D Model Shop' in London :
https://modelshop.co.uk/ They're not a model shop in the sense of plastic kits and model aircraft, they're for people making architectural models and the like, and they have some very useful (for us) products, including plastic solvent glues (to keep this on-topic) various metal meshes, etc. |

Re: Plastic glue
For plastic solvent, I use guttering glue.
Polypipe, available from most plumbing stores and probably B&Q etc.

Re: Plastic glue
Back again with the results, plastic weld glue has been a success, applied as per instructions by letting capillary action draw it into the joint, front escutcheon now repaired and seems quite a strong repair, many thanks for all your advice.
