Re: Improvising with Household Items.
Hi all,
A cheap pack of sponge pan scourers from the local supermarket, cut to size are excellent for replacing the old decayed sponge, sometimes found on the battery compartment covers of transistor radios. Simply cut away the green abrasive side, and cut the required amount and thickness of sponge to shape and glue in . Paul. |

Re: Improvising with Household Items.
I save up old foam packaging thrown out of work for various things too, the 'mountain surface' stuff is made in an interesting way. Fingers are pushed in to both sides and a straight cut made, when released you get the mountains.

Re: Improvising with Household Items.
The idea of using household items to mend electrical stuff also works the other way. Yesterday I replaced a broken winding ratchet spring in my cuckoo clock with one out of a bayonet lamp-holder contact.
