Default List of Test Equipment produced by Black Star?

Hi!

Has anyone got a definitive complete list of all the pieces of T & M equipment produced by Black Star in St. Ives, Cambs, later taken over by Aim/TTi?

I would like to try and obtain, or make available, all of their User and Service Manuals if at all possible, before they all disappear!

I have a Black Star bench DMM and have been looking for docs for it for years. It seems to be like the proverbial rocking horse poo.

Not a complete list I'm afraid, but a couple of short form catalogues:-

Black Star Short Form 1991.pdf
Black Star Short Form 1995.pdf

Cheers

Hi!

Of the Black Star T & M Service Manuals, the ones I've never seen so far are:–

a) The 1502 Battery Portable Oscilloscope;

b) The Black Star Nova 2400 Counter/Timer; (user manual available)

c) The 1325 Counter/Timer;

d) The 3332 32 Channel Logic Analyser;

e) The BS401/BS405 Milli/Micro–Ohmmeters;

f) The 2308 I/O Interface;

Black Star Service Manuals I had at Dowding and Mills I wasn't able to rescue from there when it closed:–

a) The 1410 Monitor Tester;

b) The PVG1000 Programmable Monitor Pattern Generator;

c) The Orion PAL TV Pattern Generator;

d) The 3210/3225 Battery Operated DMM and it's 3210MP/3225MP Mains Variant;

Black Star Instruments for which service manuals are available:–

a) Black Star 4503 Intelligent Multimeter;

b) Meteor Series Frequency Counters;

c) Apollo Series Counter/Timers;

d) Jupiter 2000 Function Generator;

e) Jupiter 2010 Function Generator with Display;

f) LDO100 Low Distortion Oscillator;

Someone has uploaded an incomplete service manual for the Jupiter 500 – there's no parts lists, layout or circuit diagrams in it – has anyone got the rest of this?

Hello Chris
I have copies of the Instruction and Service Manuals for the 1410 Video Monitor Tester, which I can scan and convert to PDF for you. It may take some time to do the service manual as it appears to be just a poor photo copy of the original.
Regards Stan.

I have the Meteor 1000 Frequency Counter and found the Service Manual and User Manual which covers the 3 Models 100, 600 and 1000 MHz models.

Uploaded for these for all. Cheers

Hi!

If you get a chance to scan the 2308 manual it would be very helpful to have Julian, as I'd be able to see if it was worth buying one for my friend's experiments!

Hi!

I was lucky enough to win a Miniature Black Star 1502 Mains/Battery Oscilloscope earlier this evening at a price that I could afford (the one I saw on sale previous to this was £200!), so if Tris from TTi can't help with a circuit it will be added to my ever–lengthening list of things to draw!

The 4503 intelligent multimeter was horrendously difficult to use. We had a fleet of them in the mid '90s and I decided soon after they arrived that I would have to produce an A4 crib sheet so that everyone would be able to use them. The Jupiter 2010 was OK but it was difficult to set the frequency accurately with the single knob control.

Hi!

Black Star 1502 15 MHz Miniature Mains/Battery Oscilloscope Circuit Diagram Set, courtesy of Tris Wilding from TTi!

Unfortunately he was unable to provide the remaining pages from the booklet, this is all he had!

I will attempt to make a more comprehensive Manual at some future date, but how long that will be is unknown as these units have always sold for silly prices way above what I can afford in the past, the payment for the one I thought I'd won came back some hours afterwards for some obscure reason, so presumably I'll not be getting it!

Sorry to hear that Chris, it's so frustrating when that happens! Better luck next time.
Cheers from Bill.
