Andy,

Note that a PCF80 is 9V-300mA.

Jac,

Thanks, I do know, just didn't think at the time. To much going on.

I wondered why the heater wasn't very bright!

I will do a check with 6.3V valve.

Andy

Hi Andy.
Check the heater current on the full chain, I bet its well below 300ma. The thermistor could be faulty or just aged a common issue for low heaters.

No email or PM Andy. Or were you referring to someone else?

TV62 Update,

I have made the mods suggested by Trevor - Thanks!

So here are couple of pics, Still not as good contrast as my TV22, but then I shall check alignment once I have (hopefully finally replaced the last of the duff transistors in my 50Mhz Tektronix Scope). At the moment all I have is a 20MHz Telequipment scope.

Although for a TV pretty much the same age as me, I think it is putting in a pretty good performance for its age!

The horizontal line on one pic is due to the poor placing of the CRT heater transformer on my part. It's location will be moved very soon!

Your test card is upside down! Swap the connections to the frame scanning coils. John.

Thanks John,

It is always touch and go as to which way the frame coil connections clip into place. No problem with the line as they are different lengths so cannot get mixed up.

When I have finished fixing the set I shall ensure that the scan coils are correctly plugged in!

Many years ago my brother and I swapped the frame connections on the family TV. The next time someone switched the TV on they got a bit of a surprise!
