Default 1990s Mac Hardware

I am having a clear out of another of my junk boxes and I have a lot of early to mid 1990s Mac Hardware, boards, drives, etc.

Just wondering if there is any interest in this area of computing before I go to the trouble of preparing a list to put in the Parts Offered section?

Thanks

Nick

There most definitely is. I have a couple of older early 90's Macs I'd love to get going.

I'd be very interested in any working SCSI hard drives you have

My experience with the Seagate SCSI drives of this vintage used in Macs is that they will often not spin on power-up from cold. Sometimes a carefully oriented hand 'spin' will get them going again. Perhaps they have been in use for too long a time - or is it an ageing problem?

It's hardening of the lubrication in the spindle bearings. It happened a lot when they were current. We used to give the powered-up drive a hand flick which usually got them spinning, and then leave the drive powered up from then on. That would probably still work.
In fact I've an SE/30 here that has a stuck drive, so I might try it today.

Agreed Richard with your solution !

By the way Nick, is the Mac stuff of the 68*** era, or the Power PC, or both?

If you have a video card for a Mac IIfx that supports a standard VGA monitor I would be interested please..

That's almost completely unlikely! At the time of the IIfx, the VGA standard was very new, and Apple used proprietory video interfaces for their NuBus cards. If you could afford the $10,000 to buy a IIfx, you would not shy at the similarly eye-watering price for a monitor!
