Hanimex Loadmatic 808D missing power lead
Hi, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask, I've been wanting to get my mums old projector up and running again for a while now (Hanimex Loadmatic 808D 8mm duel format movie projector) but the power lead is missing and I've just not been able to locate a replacement. I've been at a loss and not really known where to turn but found this forum so thought I'd ask you knowledgable people. I've taken a picture of the device if that helps at all, I think it's in good condition, just need to get some power into it!

Re: Hanimex Loadmatic 808D missing power lead
Hi Cathy and welcome.
There is always a bit of a dilemma when responding to a request such as yours, because for most of us it would be a trivial job to replace the socket with a modern IEC type or even just hard-wire a flex inside the projector (but still removing, or at least disconnecting the existing pins for safety. I would use a three core mains lead and earth the internal metalwork and argue that the modification is safer than original (but that opens a particular can of worms). So the best advice I can give is to ask of you know someone handy who could do the above safely for you? Also, according to the label, the projector was supplied with the mains selector set to 220v, this will over-run the lamp. To maximise its remaining life, the selector should be checked to and set to the maximum setting probebly 240v

Re: Hanimex Loadmatic 808D missing power lead
The projector lamps are quite delicate in these and do not last very long..So if the projector has been subject to a lot of moving about over the years you may find it will not light up once you get it going.
The good news is, these lamps are still available at various specialist lighting places but are expensive (for what they are) due to probably the fact they don't make them anymore. This link will give you the ref number and a relatively cheap offering. https://www.rcssales.co.uk/a1-17?tag=8v%2050w&limit=50 |

The rated life of projector bulbs in the pre-quartz era was usually only around 25 hours. The life of the later designs using quartz capsules was around 50 hours.
