Re: Not so much household
Years ago when DAB radio was fairly new I gave a talk about it at a local radio club. I used one of those induction coil units to produced sparks to demonstrate the difference between listening on am, fm and dab on a portable radio near the induction coil. On dab no interference was heard. A nice demonstration for the eyes and the ears. I cannot remember what I did with the induction coil unit, I think I may have sold at a radio rally car boot sale.

Re: Not so much household
I presume that these 'shocking machines' are pretty much the same as those miniature ones you can get disguised as a pack of cards or a pen? In fact, I believe I have one somewhere. I remember the internal components look very similar to the ones featured above.
