Re: A curious Xmas present.
Poor resolution but the position of 2L15 can be seen in the unit in the AD712:

Re: A curious Xmas present.
Didn't realise that there was so much YouTube info on Shackletons. Thanks to Andy for the link. I guess the video was made in the 90's, post the major refit.
There must be an AP out there covering the 10U/17643 Amplifier Unit of "TR1136A" equipment. You could try the Signals Museum at RAF Henlow(was under threat of closure). "Birketts" of Lincoln - famous exGov. equipment supplier - might have some info. His son & D in L(Ivana) used to run a mail-order business for flogging AP's, and they used to have an online catalogue, I seem to remember. A query post on the VMARS Forum might also produce results. I still feel a tit for not recognising this bit of RAF equipment. I actually applied for a "last tour of duty" at Lossiemouth, prior to my service ending in '75. Plans were already afoot to build a wee house in Sutherland & commence a commercial diving career. Consequently, I was pretty much "NFI" RAF & Avionics-wise for those last two years on 8 Sqdn., one day a week at college studying building, & building up my stock of diving equipment. Quite frankly, the day I left - I encouraged my mind to totally forget radio/electronics/avionics & concentrate on the future. Over 30 years were to pass before I commenced vintage radio pursuits as a retirement pastime. Happy New Year, David |
