Default Ferguson 3V65

My 3v65 has been unused for a long time, and now has the following faults. Press play and it makes whirring noises for a couple of seconds then stops. The same with FF and REW. It seems to do everything else OK. Help!

Sounds like slipping belts - have you taken the cover off to see what is whirring?
