Default Russell Hobbs CP1 Coffee Pot

I've just acquired a Russell Hobbs CP1 Coffee Pot / Percolator ( we had one in the 60's )

Bulb wasn't working so I removed base and replaced the 2.5 Volt MES bulb which
had the voltage marked along with "UD" and "Empire"

I've attached pictures of the mains connector as I'd seen on a previous thread
someone was trying to find one of these.

Old CP1 threads:-

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=70637
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=169332

The connector is marked with " WG ".

Does anyone know what these initials stand for ?

Also marked BSS 562.

I've not been able to find what this standard is.

Anyone know ?

The pins are about 3/4 inches apart and pin diameter about 1/4 inch.

I saw on one of the older threads that someone had the instructions. I'd love to see these.

Both for the operation and recommended cleaning. Is position 1 for keeping the coffee warm ?

I filled the pot with 1 pint of cold water and set to position 2. To the point where the light went out it took 20 minutes. The coffee was very nice ( beans coarsely ground with manual Tre Spade Burr grinder)

I don't know what that plug is called, but it was quite common on kettles made in the 60s.

WG is Ward and Goldstone.
BSS 562 is BS 562, 1958 Edition, February 6, 1958 - Specification. Reversible connectors. Two-pole connector and inlet socket having rated currents up to 10 A at 250 V. (This was a change from the earlier edition, where they were 7.5A. There was also an improvement in the earthing contacts, probably changing to one each side.)
I don't know when the "Safety" was officially dropped from BSS to become BS.

A long established company by then - they were marketing crystal sets and various components under their Goltone brand in the early to mid '20s.

They were also used with Electric Irons, there are a couple irons compleat with
the lead on a well known auction site at the moment .
I have not seen one of those WG plugs for years.
They do make lovely coffee, may be worth the investment to get it working.

No help at all, but the percolator brings back memories of Sunday breakfast in the late 60's early 70s with the exact same model of percolator. I can smell the coffee now. The brewed coffee was transferred into a Denby coffee pot which was a remarkably similar design. No idea what became of the percolator, but the coffee pot went to a charity shop back in 2019 when my parents downsized to move.

You don't have any images ?

I've started a request here:
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=198016

I note that you have a 3010 percolator. I noted that in one of your posts you showed the underside workings of the CP1.

I'd love to see the internals of CP2, 3008 and 3010 as these had
no user controls for temperature.

Thanks

James
Hi James, I don't have any manual for CP1. I've had no cause to disassemble my 3010 but I did fix(?) a CP2 which I then gave away. From memory it had a non-adjustable sealed thermostat. Not much help sorry.

Andrew.
