Another old TV ID thread!
Just seen this in local small ads. Total mystery to me, has a slight Hitachi look to it, thoughts?

Hi
Blackstripe = Toshiba; Instaview/Instavision = Hitachi; Quintrix = Panasonic. I think we all know what Trinitron means! |

Definitely a Toshiba C2010. The date is correct 1977. The C2080 followed a year later and the UK made version, the C2090 in 1979. All UK versions of these sets were suffixed as B. Very reliable sets.

Re: Another old TV ID thread!
One of the best definition colour pictures I have ever seen on a receiver at any price. Made in Japan. Sold a large number, never had a single service call.
Well actually just one to the 18" version 1810 that the customer, during a dispute with his wife, had a very large glass ashtray lobbed at him. It missed and went through the screen of the brand new receiver. Toshiba were very amused by the story and supplied a replacement tube FOC. I fitted it free and the customer was more than delighted. Oh yes, they are still married and that was back in 1978! Toshiba had an excellent dealer/customer/factory relationship that served them very well. RIP the Plymouth factory. A hard act, in fact an impossible one to follow. Very Happy Days! John |

Currys sold loads of a 20 inch version under the Triumph brand. I can only ever remember one of these sets in the w/shop, o/c mains smoothing cap, Malc.

Hi Malc
Yes - the Triumph set looked very cheap and nasty when it was anything but. We had a few in but usually only for a scratchy volume control or duff buttons - neither were Toshiba parts, of course. Weren't they a later model than the one above? Glyn |

Re: Another old TV ID thread!
Must say I'm tempted after reading such positive comments, but I've also got the possibility of a nice big Grundig CUC220 (26" remote) coming my way, so that will take priority...will report back!
