Default Help with Radio identification

Good Morning,

A friend has just acquired the radio shown in the pictures. However there are no indications as to the brand/maker's name.

It looks like the medium wave tuning scale has been rubbed off. One of the capacitors has "Feb 45" and another has "Sep 44" printed on the body.

It has been worked on at some time as it has a modern PVC insualted mains lead and certainly one capacitor has been changed

Does any one have any ideas ?

All ideas appreciated, thank you,

Looks like TRS on the back? Hard to be sure. I expect the MW scale will have been in red and completely washed out by exposure to daylight, I've seen the effect on a few sets because black and green inks are more stable.

TRS was also Radio Component Specialists but their logo was different, at least in the mid 50's and later, is that a TV or a radio in the logo? Repair services? Just wild guessing.

Lawrence.

Update. We now have some more images. The valve line up is 6X5G, EF39, 6Q7-GT and an ECH35. The audio output valve is blackened and the number illegable, the transformer mounted on the speaker has "EL84" written on it in felt tip pen, so not original. All advice gratefully recieved, thanks

I expect the output valve will be a 6V6.

What does that metal plate on the inside bottom of the cabinet say? (Post #5, image 3).

Maybe these people in Thornton Heath? (As Lawrence implies, did they morph into RCS?)
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...3&d=1221000427

The ad says established 1946, which would fit with this set, I would have thought.

Another very low-key ad on p.354 of 1951 PW here, with separate address for "callers": https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Pra...1-08-S-OCR.pdf

Yes, TRS could be Television and Radio Services, and as such not the manufacturer or even 'badger' of the set, just the supplier, renter, fixer, whatever.

Ah sorry, now I see it as a download - plus three previous ones!
