Default Panasonic FS-90 SVHS VCR repair

Thanks to the excellent posts on this forum I have partially repaired my trusty old FS-90.
It had the sound fault where the sound plays for 3 secs and then mutes, and the time counter wasn't incrementing.
It was C2311 as detailed in:
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...t=57668&page=2

After replacing that capacitor, the VCR now plays VHS tapes fine, but SVHS tapes show a totally blank screen.
This link:
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=183425

suggests that the fault may lie with the capacitors on the VCR0389 module, but I'm having trouble locating this module. Is it on the main PCB, or located elsewhere in the VCR. Any pointers please?

Hi, it's located off one of the daughterboards (Y/C pack), as shown on this site, albeit for a Japanese model. Fingers-crossed the board isn't too badly damaged by any potential corrosion.

Thanks very much for the link John.
I see that the pictures on that site are for an FS70, but I hope the general layout is similar to my FS90.
I'll have another look inside when I get chance and hopefully locate the offending item.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Hello. VCR0284 (not 0389) is at IC801 on the luminance/chrominance process board, and it's attached to the main board as shown in the picture.

Fivos

Thanks Fivos. That diagram helps.
I wish I'd known to look for that module when I had the VCR apart to replace the C2311 capacitor.
At the time, I hadn't realised there was an SVHS playback problem as well.
I'll let you know how I get on
