Re: More SC/MP documentation
Nothing much on web about book but someone is listing same copy I have on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234285310149
The book covers both INS8060 and 6502, both hardware and software from scratch. Proportionally more on INS8060, exploring instruction set and CPU signals. If your interested in SC/MP I would recommend it. Its only 136 pages but its quite well written. The HALT/CONT switch is useful when punctuating errant code with 00 opcode to see how far it gets. Before using the breakpoint handler in Elbug to check register values.

Re: More SC/MP documentation
Thanks for the link David, for some reason my active searches missed it.
I couldnt let that one go for £6! Back on circuitry, the David Aitken SC/MP system from Practical Electronics April 1980 has a nice single-cycle/continuous-run switch with a single-step button: https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Pra...cs-1980-04.pdf ...more discussion here: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ghlight=aitken The 'mods' scan is slightly too big to attach, so heres a link: http://www.mccrash-racing.co.uk/phil...itken_scmp.pdf Of course theres a lot of similarity between these old systems, I think maybe a lot stem from the NS Applications Manual. I do like paper documentation and find these old books fascinating Cheers Phil |

Re: More SC/MP documentation
I found what seems to be the same Ian R Sinclair book on amazon, but date is April 1986. This is hopefully just a reprint of the original. I’ll report back when it eventually arrives.

Re: More SC/MP documentation
Found another one for sale (£7) : https://biblio.co.uk/book/practical-...r/d/1033676421
Also (£3.57 used) : https://biblio.co.uk/book/practical-...s/d/1456201298 For reference : PRACTICAL MICROPROCESSOR SYSTEMS by SINCLAIR, Ian R ISBN 10 : 0408004967 ISBN 13 : 9780408004961 What is odd is that front cover shows picture of a Z80 system, but contents only cover INS8060 and 6502.

Re: More SC/MP documentation
The Ian R Sinclair book arrrived and whilst its a worthwhile addition to a collection, theres nothing that hasnt been covered elsewhere. It starts with the usual logic gates, memory and addressing, but I think a beginner would find it a confusing mix of SC/MP, 6502 and Z80. For example theres a buffer and I/O section which tries to simultaneously cover the INS8154 and the Mostek 6520. Its like comparing a steam-engine to a Tuesday.
There is a nice section on the KIM-1 with full circuit diagrams, memory maps and code examples. The introduction claims the book concentrates on two processors, the SC/MP and 6502 - which it mostly does - yet the whole of the assembler programming chapter is Z80 based using Zen. Overall, it seems to be a bit of a weird book lacking a specific intent, but all the same, its nice to have for six quid Cheers Phil |

As Silvester noted, odd that the book shows a Z80 system on the cover but the Z80 barely gets a mention in the book. The MK14 gets a brief mention and there is some description of the INS8154. Its probably a usefull introduction to microprocessor hardware for someone that has previous experience of basic logic circuits. |

Does yours mention of ZIBL, a Z80 tiny-basic based on NIBL? Its a weird mix! |

Re: More SC/MP documentation
Mine sounds like Phil's again then it had a Z80 on the cover, no mention of the MK-14, shows you how to build a minimum INS8060 based machine on breadboard, covers the KIM-1 and a little bit of Z80 on the mentioning ZEN but nothing on ZIBL... so could be another variant. Cyan cover.
