Default Supplier of electrolytics in Lewes UK region

Hi folks - I ask your help as I'm over in New Zealand and a non-electronics relative near Lewes in the UK needs a replacement 0.1uf 350-450V capacitor.

Since I don't know any suppliers there from adam - can you kind folk suggest a supplier there or thereabouts (Lewes) who will not charge and arm and a leg for one of these caps.

Thanks.

There are very few places these days where you can walk in and buy a single capacitor, virtually everything is mail order with min order value, costs etc etc.

Having said that, I can send him one if you let me know his details via pm.

I have to ask though, if he is non-electronic, how will he safely fit it ?

My contribution is on Post No.92, but there's loads of other suggestions.
Best to buy a bag of five capacitors via mail order, it ends up costing virtually the same.

One point worth checking....the thread title is 'Supplier of ELECTROLYTIC capacitors.....
A 0.1uF is very unlikely to be electrolytic and is more likely to be a standard paper type possibly with a band at one end indicating outer foil NOT polarity. If he is non-electronic, can we be certain that he's after the right type of component?

Thanks for the contributions so far But my bad - must have been dreaming - it is of course a paper capacitor (or poly) that is needed -NOT electrolytic.

I'm sure I have some 0.1uF 400v capacitors. I too live near Lewes.

It would also help if we knew what equipment this cap is for, and where abouts in the circuit.
The voltage rating quoted on a capacitor usually refers to DC, but in the case of some capacitors associated with the mains input of an appliance (eg X2 type) it can mean AC.

The markings can be a bit cryptic, so ideally if you can obtain and post an image of the faulty component, that would be best.

As for suppliers, there are specialist ones like Cricklewood Electronics, but there are many UK based suppliers on Ebay with much lower (or free) shipping charges.
